Voices from journalists are heard beyond borders. True Story Award, the first global journalism prize initiated by Swiss magazine Reportagen in cooperation with Bern Welcome, has announced this year’s nominees.

50 jury members evaluated the entries, and 39 articles are selected out of 924 entries across 13 language categories. Reputed journalists and scholars Liang Hong, Li Haipeng, and Wu Qi contributed as Chinese juries.

Congratulations to three Chinese nominees! They have distinguished themselves by the depth of their research, the quality of their journalism and its social relevance. They are:
Uzbekistan: Finding the Lost Heart of Central Asia, by Liu Zichao;
The Vagabond Club, by Du Qiang;
Escaping the Beauty Salon, by Ba Rui

We have invited these Chinese nominees and jury member Wu Qi to attend the Reportagen Festival Bern from August 30 through September 1, 2019, where they will share their stories with audiences. Three winners will be announced at the festival’s main event on August 31 at Bern City Theater.
