To-gather: The New Voice Project

To-gather
The COVID-19 pandemic has posed challenges to the global art sector. It’s time to regroup, rebuild, and reconnect. From August to October 2021, we have launched this «To-gather» International Collaboration open call. This call supports 2–3-year collaborations between partners in Switzerland and in the regions of the Pro Helvetia liaison offices. We expect these 3 selected projects to have a critical reflection on the current situation, to share ideas towards more equal forms of exchange between cultures and across contexts, and to experiment with new formats for collaborating.
STATEMENT
The New Voice Project, initiated by the Chinese mook, One-Way Street Journal, will come together with eight independent literary journals or platforms from other countries or regions around the world. In the post-epidemic era, this Project seeks to explore new approaches to literature and build up new space for communication through online meetings and workshops that will last for two years. It also jumps out of the mainstream mindset and identifies new writings in cross-lingual discussions, bringing together a new group of experimental and independent writers, and providing them with long-term support for translation, editing and publication. If possible, it will invite the overseas writers to China for literary residency, and to rejoin face-to-face international cultural activities. It aims to enrich or even counter the single standard in literary, to rebuild the link between different cultures and to reaffirm the spirit of dialogues, cooperation and solidarity as indispensable to human society.
One-Way Street Journal will discuss the details of their cooperation with partners from Swiss and other countries or regions. By recommending or collecting excellent works in their own languages or countries, their Swiss partners will provide a list of works and writers, and then join in the follow-up online or offline communication activities. One-Way Street Journal will manage the whole project, work in close liaison, and provide supports in translation, editing, hosting, finance, administration.
