Quang Vinh Nguyen, born in 1995, is a product designer from Lausanne, Switzerland. After graduating with honors from ECAL/Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne with a bachelor’s degree, he has been granted a residency program in Hong Kong. He will then attend the TaDA (Textile & Design Alliance) residency in eastern Switzerland and “Hors pistes” in Singapore.
Having grown up in Switzerland with Vietnamese parents allows him to have understandings and insights in both occidental and Asian way of thinking. His work is therefore driven by Asian cultures and processed with a Swiss vision.
Besides his personal explorations, he also co-founded a multidisciplinary project named “Căng tin” which aims to highlight food and vernacular know-how of Vietnam through various mediums ranging from performances, objects to printed matters.
He is now entering the final prototyping stage for his anti-pollution mask “Pureknit”. The research trip to Shanghai will allow him to find potential companies to produce the project as well as other knitting projects that he is developing.
