July 4-Sep.30, 2023 — Visual Arts
Residency location: Shanghai, Taipei
Born 1988, lives and works in Zurich. Feller deals with systems, patterns and temporal processes. His interest lies in the tension between observation and contemplation of processes, habits and rhythms. The question of control is immanent in his work.
For the implementation of his contents, he works sculpturally and installatively with various materials and programming methods. These are brought into dependency on each other and are driven to a transformation by passing time or rhythm of a movement.
During in his residency in China, Feller will work with the rhythms of everyday life and its ritualization and pattern formation. Through the complex rhythms, repetitions and events of the city Shanghai, he wants to break through everyday rhythms and establish new processes, sequences and workflows. Which habits remain and which are determined by a spatial and cultural environment?
By visiting various markets, he hopes to build up a collection of electronically operated toys, which will serve as inspiration and research material for new technical solutions in his work. By visiting engine factories he wants to gain a better understanding of the production and manufacturing process of electronic components that have influenced his work.
