Selection for 2019 Studio Residency

Pro Helvetia Shanghai is honoured to announce the final selection of 2019 Studio Residency. Thanks to the great enthusiasm of artists, we have received over 70 competitive applications from Chinese artists. After joint discussion between our Shanghai and Zurich offices, we have selected the following candidates who will be granted our residency support: (Swiss) Andreas Gysin, Marianne Halter & Mario Marchisella, Tarik Hayward; (Chinese) Chen Haishu, Chen Wei, He Qiwo (ErGao), and Hu Zi.
We hope that these eight artists will take the opportunity of their residency in China and in Switzerland to research, create, and engage. Our media partner LEAP magazine has co-announced and featured our residency program, read LEAP‘s featured interview in Chinese. The call for 2020 Studio Residency in Switzerland will be launched at the end of 2018. For more information about our studio residency project, please click here.
2019 Studio Residency
A studio residency (3 months) in China or, conversely, in Switzerland gives artists the chance to gain a broad insight into a different cultural environment. The aim of the residency is to find inspiration, establish networks and contemplate new projects and cooperations. In addition to a place to work and accommodation, Pro Helvetia will provide specific coaching. The Swiss Arts Council covers the cost of travel, insurances and per diem.
